#ChamkaurDeeGarhi Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee and the Sikhs left Sri Anandpur Sahib in 1704 after solemn oaths of safe passage from the combined armies of the Mughals and Hindu Hill Rajas. These oaths were violated and the Sikhs had to fight for survival undergoing hardships and martyrdom.
Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee made it to Chamkaur and took up defensive positions in a ‘Kachhi Garhi’ a mud fort. Our hashtag of #ChamkaurDeeGarhi refers to a number of posts we have made on our facebook and Instagram pages – retelling this history, albeit with a little fictionalization. The account is mostly accurately based on the history as told by the poet Bhai Santokh Singh Jee, we add a fictional character of a Mughal General called Ali Khan to tell the story from his persepective.
